If there’s one thing that Americans excel at it’s killing things. Be it fish, deer, or any of the other animals hunted for sport; Iraqi civilians or Afghani Taliban in the name of peace; or any burrowing animal classified as a pest.
Meet the Rodenator Pro, the new weapon of choice to deal with the pesky critters who hide underground to prevent being shot or snared in more conventional ways. Although I’m sure the military will figure out a way of using it for war too.
I have mixed feelings about this device. I’m not a woolly-headed liberal who thinks animals should be allowed to run riot, but then I also don’t like killing for killing’s sake. And that’s what the Rodenator seems to do, despite how humane the makers claim it is.
Underground-dwelling animals are a pain in the butt – I’ve seen a mole destroy a garden in about a month – but does that really justify genocide? Adolf Hitler may think so but I don’t think I do.
