Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.
If any other words come to your mind while watching this trailer, feel free to leave a comment. Although, I hardly believe it’s possible.
For fans of the 2001 cult classic Donnie Darko, this film is anything but pleasant. Not that I’ve seen it myself (it hits DVD on April 28th), but judging by this embarrassing trailer I’d have to go ahead and call it a plane-crash of a sequel.
What makes this project even more sickening is the fact that Donnie Darko’s original director Richard Kelly hasn’t had any involvement with the film at all. And although the budget for the film is more than double the original ($10 mill as opposed to $4.5 mill), the effects and acting are only worthy of a TV pilot.
A quick look at the cast members reaffirms this reality. With James Lafferty from “One Tree Hill” and Ed Westiwick from “Gossip Girl” involved, it’s entirely possible the only real fans of S. Darko will be soap-opera-watching teen girls.
