Savages is the new movie from Oliver Stone, the legendary, Oscar-winning director. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Don Winslow, but has Stone’s trademark look and feel plastered all over it.
Stone is a known user of marijuana and an advocate for legalizing it. This movie keeps that political outlook on the subject bubbling away underneath, but with a pulpy, trashy movie on the surface.
Savages tells the story of Californian weed growers who run foul of a Mexican drug cartel. And it’s been described as a cross between Kill Bill and Miami Vice.
