One minute this guy was sitting in his bedroom minding his own business, the next minute he was swallowed by the earth opening up under his house.
This is a sad story that could happen to anyone, essentially, though there is clearly no point in worrying about it as it’s a random, chance event that is almost impossible to predict.
Sinkholes can occur anywhere, and are the result of fissures in the ground opening up underneath property. Thankfully most don’t swallow people alive, but sometimes tragedy strikes.
It looks like the house is going to be demolished without the body of its unfortunate inhabitant having been found. Other adjacent properties may also have to be demolished because of the danger.
