I’ve never been skiing in my life for one very simple reason: I’d be scared of crashing and getting horribly injured. It happens to the best skiers out there, so what chance would I, an absolute n00b, have?
This video shows Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn suffering a horrifying yet spectacular crash during the Alpine World Championships.
Vonn sustained terrible injuries from this crash, mainly doing serious damage to her right knee. She was airlifted to hospital and will not race again this season.
Thankfully, although the injuries are severe, they’re not expected to force her into retirement, with doctors confident she’ll be able to return for the 2013-14 World Cup season which begins in October.
