This video shows a bus driver using his bus to ram a cyclist off the road. It’s scary stuff, at least for the cyclist. The driver ended up being jailed for 17 months for doing what he did.
This is meant to be a professional driver, who should know not to let a little bit of road rage get the better of him. He gets paid for his driving skills, but that doesn’t include the ability to knock someone off their bike.
This could obviously have been a lot worse. The cyclist could have ended up under the bus rather than on the pavement. And then the jail term would have been longer than 17 months.
This is why I try not to cycle on busy main roads. Thankfully there are lots of back roads and cycle lanes I can use instead. I still prefer walking though.
