There’s nothing more annoying than bad sportsmanship. And Serena Williams has shown herself up as having a stinking attitude worthy of John McEnroe, the master of throwing toys out of the pram.
Williams clearly deserved to lose the point. She screamed at the top of her lungs as her opponent Samantha Stosur was about the return a shot. Unnecessary intimidation because she was losing, if you ask me.
And then she completely goes after the umpire Eva Asderaki, accusing her of making the wrong call, having some kind of vendetta against her, and eventually turning into a guest on Jerry Springer.
A $2000 fine is completely inconsequential considering Williams picked up a check for $1.5 million for her performance in the U.S. Open. So this wasn’t even a slap on the wrists. Shameful all round.
