Shailene Woodley, best known for her role as Amy Juergens on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, won’t be featured in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Even though she filmed scenes for her role as Mary Jane Watson, the role was cut until the third film, due in 2016.

The Golden Globe nominee filmed her scenes as Mary Jane Watson, one of Peter Parker’s main love interests, in February. She even dyed her hair red for the role!
According to HollywoodLife.com’s sister site Deadline, her role was pushed to the third film so that the 2014 sequel can focus on Peter Parker’s (Andrew Garfield) relationship with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).
