Shaker App Demo Video | Facebook-Powered Virtual World Wins TechCrunch Disrupt

Shaker is a Facebook app which acts like a cross between a social game and a virtual world. And it’s suddenly gaining in popularity thanks to winning TechCrunch Disrupt.

Personally I cannot believe that Shaker won TechCrunch Disrupt or that it has already raised $3 million in funding. It just doesn’t feel all that new or exciting, and there were better startups in the running.

The biggest problem for me is the amount of information the app requires for you to even use it. If you don’t like to give too much of yourself away online then this isn’t the app for you.

Shaker is currently in private beta, with places disappearing quickly. If you’ve always wanted to be a part of Second Life then this may be worth checking out. For the rest of us it’ll probably be a five-minute novelty.
