A bus exploded in central Stockholm over the weekend, leading many people to fear a terrorist attack was unfolding.
However, it turns out the explosion was just an accident, albeit one that could and should have been avoided.
Some Swedish buses are powered by gas, with the tank holding that gas positioned on the roof. Which is absolutely fine unless the driver misjudges the height of the vehicle.
That’s what happened here, with this driver trying to drive his bus into a tunnel. The bus was too tall, which meant the gas tank struck the maximum height barrier, and exploded.
The driver was unfortunately injured. However, the passengers on the bus were all reported to be safe and well.
