Henry Bolton, the current leader of UKIP, has defended racist comments made by his (now ex-) girlfriend Jo Marney.
After the comments, made in text messages, were exposed by the newspapers, Bolton and Marney are no longer in a relationship, but he’s refusing to completely disown her.
In the text exchanges, Marney made several comments about black people and Meghan Markle, who is due to marry Prince Harry later this year.
Bolton claims these comments were made in the heat of argument and don’t reflect what she actually believes. But there are calls for him to stand down as the leader of UKIP.
