Notre Dame de Paris, one of the most famous buildings in the world, has been badly damaged in a fire.
The fire broke out on Monday afternoon (April 15), quickly took hold, and raged for several hours. Firefighters struggled to contain the blaze but eventually extinguished it.
Notre Dame de Paris, which translates as Our Lady of Paris, has suffered significant damage, with the spire destroyed and two-thirds of the roof incinerated.
Thankfully, both towers have survived, and the core of the building, which is made out of stone, also remains intact. Which means it should be possible to restore Notre Dame to its former glory.
