As a cat lover I appreciate all the different varieties there are. But until now I’d never heard of the species known as Munchkin, which comprises cats with short legs. And I kinda wish I’d remained in the dark.
Unlike the longest cat in the world we featured yesterday, I don’t agree with this little (tiny, in fact) feline being awarded a world record and being featured in the Guinness Book Of World Records.
Why? Because she’s only that short as a result of a genetic mutation, one that has been seized on by breeders rather than treated as a genetic abnormality.
It’s not the cat’s fault, of course, but the breeders and owners who seem to think this is a good thing. This owner really doesn’t seem to love cats as much as she suggests, as she keeps them all in cages. Poor kitties.
