You’ve got to admire him for trying. Because he did really try hard. Unfortunately, Sogelau Tuvalu isn’t really cut out for the 100 meters sprint.
The story here is that Tuvalu was meant to be heading to South Korea for the World Athletics Championships in order to compete in the shot put. But he failed to qualify in that event and was heartbroken.
However, there was an opening for a 100 meters sprinter, so Tuvalu trained hard (4 hours a day for months) and took part. But that’s about all he managed, taking over 15 seconds to finish in his preliminary round.
We shouldn’t laugh at Tuvalu. Not only has he shown courage and commitment, he could probably beat 90 percent of us over that distance. Which for a man of his build is pretty damn impressive, if you ask me.
