Hmm, I’m really not too sure what to think about this video. It shows a performance from So You Think You Can Dance in which Melissa and Ade dance a routine choreographed to show a woman struggling with breast cancer.
So, it’s very well-meaning and will surely draw attention to an important subject matter close to many people’s hearts. It’s just that I find the whole thing a little distasteful and, to be honest, frankly uninspiring.
Breast cancer is an illness that affects a lot of families and needs more attention in the mainstream media. But is getting a couple of dancers to interpret breast cancer through the medium of dance really the best way to go about that?
The dance apparently made all the judges weep profusely, although that’s probably just because they’re on camera. Me, well it had little effect I’m afraid, barring a realization that I don’t understand dance used in this context.
