Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark opened on Broadway for its first public previews over the weekend, and the results weren’t good.
This video shows Bono, The Edge, and Julie Taymor talking to 60 Minutes about the stage production of Spider-Man, the first of its kind. And there’s clearly a reason no one has attempted it before.
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is already the most expensive Broadway production of all time having sucked up $65 million before the first ticket was sold. Meaning it’s never likely to actually turn a profit.
The first show saw multiple issues emerge, including five technical malfunctions in the first act alone. And the story, script, and score have all been described as poor anyway. One to avoid, I think.
