Spotify has publicly called out Apple over what it claims are unfair business practices.
In a nutshell, Spotify Claims that Apple’s App Store policies are designed to harm Spotify while benefiting Apple Music. Which could be considered anti-competitive.
The problem is the Apple tax, which means Spotify has to hand over 30 percent of a subscription fee when a user upgrades through the App Store.
Spotify doesn’t think this is fair, when its margins are already pretty narrow. Unfortunately, Apple isn’t listening, so this one could end up in court.
This is bad for consumers and bad for Spotify, but obviously good for Apple and its own products and services.
