This video shows revelers celebrating the 2012 summer solstice by gathering at Stonehenge in England.
The summer solstice for those of us in the northern hemisphere falls around Jun 21, as it did this year. To commemorate the event, which literally means the sun standing still, thousands gathered at Stonehenge.
The people there included those who call themselves pagans or druids. But there were also many normal people who realized the significance of the site on such an occasion.
Stonehenge has been standing for 4,000 years and is believed to have been used in a religious context all that time ago. So it’s fitting that people still gather there each year for the summer solstice.
