This video is a trailer of sorts for a documentary showing a trip around Ireland. But I’ve only posted it to demonstrate the close links between Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day, and drinking.
Let’s be completely honest with each other for a moment: St. Patrick’s Day is mainly about drinking. I’m sorry but that’s the truth.
Oh, you can dress head to toe in green, hang an Irish flag out, and eat some traditional Irish grub, but unless you imbibe lots of Guinness or other Irish alcoholic drinks while doing so then it doesn’t really count.
I don’t know how the Irish feel about this; their close connection with getting drunk at all times of the day and night. But it has helped St. Patrick’s Day become a truly global affair.
