Steel Magnolias 2012 Remake Trailer Video | Emotional Story Brought Up To Date

Steel Magnolias has been brought up to date for 2012 with a remake for the Lifetime Network. Those who hate the idea of remaking a classic movie for the sake of it have Queen Latifah to blame.

Steel Magnolias was originally a play by Robert Harling, which was then turned into a movie in 1989 starring Sally Field, Darryl Hannah, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Julia Roberts, and Olympia Dukakis.

This is the trailer for the TV movie remake which premiered on Lifetime last night (Oct. 7). It stars Queen Latifah (who also produced), Jill Scott, Condola Rashād, and Adepero Oduye.

Some people love the new version, while others are being bitterly vocal in their criticism of it. Personally I find the story boring anyway, so I won’t be watching the original or the remake.
