In actual fact, Fry is talking about the classical composer, in a documentary called Stephen Fry on Wagner. A composer that many people don’t seem to have ever heard of. Which is scary.
However, one enterprising YouTube video creator decided to make a mashup, using Fry’s documentary but interspersing clips of Wagner from The X Factor. You know, the one who cannot sing and shouldn’t be there.
Stephen Fry has actually seen this and thought it was great, saying as much on Twitter. Which is good because he could so easily have taken offense.
