It has now been five years since Steve Irwin was tragically killed when a stingray pierced his chest during filming. But his legacy and his influence lives on, and he should be forever fondly remembered.
This video is nothing special, but that’s the point. It shows what Irwin did on a daily basis in Australia Zoo in Queensland. Someone watching from the crowd films Irwin baiting a crocodile until it lashes out.
Most of us will remember Steve Irwin as that crazy Australian guy who got too close to ferocious animals on a regular basis, and that’s exactly how we should remember him. He saw it as a job and he did it with aplomb.
Did he take it too far at times? Possibly. After all, the fact he isn’t with us any more would suggest as much. But I don’t think he’d have had it any other way.
