Yet again the Young Turks remind us just how crazy American policies can be. In this video they tell the story of a boy suspended from school when they suspected he’d been using marijuana.
School authorities made their case because the boy had bloodshot eyes. What they didn’t realize was that the boy’s father was murdered just two days earlier.
This is an unfortunate case, but it just goes to show the ridiculousness of such hyper vigilance. We have bloodshot eyes because we’ve been crying, because we’re tired, because we’re allergic to pollen, because we have pink eye, and yes sometimes because we’ve been smoking pot.
To jump to the final conclusion without any investigation just shows the world has gone mad. I hope this school learns its lesson.
