Unlike most people, I love the cold, the ice, and the snow. I’d much rather be in a cold climate than a warm one, wrapping up warm and getting cosy.
However, this video makes me want to stay near to the Equator. If it doesn’t make you feel cold and eternally grateful for a warm jumper then nothing will.
What we’re seeing here is the progress of an icebreaker, a ship that literally breaks through ice, over a period of two months. Sometimes the ice is solid, sometimes it’s fragmented, but it’s always stunning.
The end of the video, with the camera focused on penguins swimming between two ice sheets, is a great conclusion to a fascinating glimpse into a world few of us will ever experience.
