Paco de Lucia, recognized as being one of the best guitarists in the world, has died at the age of 66 from a heart attack while on vacation in Mexico.
De Lucia was a flamenco guitarist with incredible flair and versatility. He blended traditional music with other genres and styles, and found new audiences as a result.
He enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in later life, winning two Latin Grammy Awards. His death was greeted with a host of tributes, especially in his native Spain.
He first came to prominence in the 1960s, forming a partnership with singer Camaron de la Isla.
