There are waves travelling all around us at all times. When someone talks to you, when you listen to the radio, when you bang your fist on a hard surface; all of these things create sound waves.
They’re invisible under normal circumstance, unless some form of liquid gets in their way. Like paint, for example.
This video from the Slow Mo Guys shows what happens when you pour paint onto an upended speaker, play some music, and turn the volume up to 11.
The patterns formed by the multicolored paint are rather beautiful, with the sound waves showing up in the peaks and troughs. I’m tempted to try this myself, but I don’t want to ruin my speakers.
