Sustainable Educational “Story Of Stuff’ (Video) | Being An American Consumer

“Our primary identity has become that of being consumers.” At least that’s what this video short and book ‘Story Of Stuff’ claims.

And I have to agree- it seems like we have more “stuff” but less happiness these days. Having 5% of the world’s population, yet consuming 30% of the world’s resources was bound to catch up to us.

This video, which is made by a non-profit, is crammed with facts. So if you’re looking for a quick funny video, you might want to bookmark this and save it for later. I had to pause it numerous times and rewind it.

Still this is much better than turning on my TV and watching the consumerism propaganda. I had no idea that we see more ads in one year than people ever saw in their lifetime 50 years ago. I laughed at the 16:32 mark- because it’s true. Commercials might as well be saying “You suck!”
