I can’t believe we’ve reached the top four of American Idol, and I still haven’t talked about Syesha Mercado. She’s delivered consistent performances every week, yet she’s always been outshone by someone a little gutsier.
But not this week. It takes a strong singer to even attempt Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, but she delivered it with just the right amount of oomph.
The first thing I thought when I saw her standing there, hips swaying, is that her legs are certainly as good as Tina’s! But she didn’t just look the part. While she doesn’t quite have Tina’s rasp, this purer delivery still packed a punch.
Move over Beyonce – Syesha has arrived!
