I’ve heard some interesting versions of Rihanna’s monster hit “Umbrella” in my time, but none quite as quirky as this take from German rockabilly band The Baseballs.
The trio transports us back to the 1950s with their carefully coiffed hairdo and Elvis style swiveling hips. It’s enough to make a girl squeal with delight, just as the ones in this film clip do.
All too often it seems that bands change things up just to get noticed, but this reworking of Rihanna’s dance hit is very clever. Fans of the Barbados born pop queen may not agree with me, but I think it might be better than the original!
