Imagine a carefully constructed musical instrument containing every element of an orchestra. Then imagine seeing it played not by dozens of people but by balls hitting the instrument in perfect time.
Well, you don’t actually have to imagine it any longer because this video shows exactly that. It is, of course, constructed purely by computer graphics, but the timing and choreography is still a sight to behold.
I still can’t fathom how this was done. Did the music come first or did the animation come first? Whatever the methods used, the people behind this are absolute geniuses. I’ve already watched it 10 times.
I just wish this sort of instrument were possible in real-life. Maybe it will be in 50 years time but for now we’ll have to make do with this CGI-created masterpiece. That’ll do me for now.
