If you know anything about Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you should know that the once-rundown neighborhood has had a recent transformation. It has now become a center for alternative fashion, art, and Indie Rock.
Now there’s a show that attempts to make light of this awkward transition. “Who says gentrification can’t be funny?”
’The Burg’ was created in 2006 and originally thought to be a flop. The creators were told that they were “mad to attempt an episodic series longer than three minutes on the internet”. As we now know in 2008, this obviously isn’t the case.
After only one week of premiering on the internet, ‘The Burg’ had been mentioned on both online publications and in newspapers such as the “Net York Times.” Now equipped with an even larger online fan base, The Burg will continue with a second season this year.
’Fan Mail’ Short
Apparently the show has as many haters as fans. Rather than responding to the hate mail, they blatantly read them in this short. This is ironic humor at its best.
