The Clinton Foundation is a non-profit making charity that uses donations to tackle climate change, help combat HIV in the developing world, fight childhood obesity, and maintain Bill Clinton’s library in Arkansas.
It was set up by Bill Clinton after he left the White House and now takes donations from generous folk from around the world. However, some of the donors are slightly controversial, as this video discovers.
The Clinton Foundation has revealed its list of donors in full in order to allow Hillary Clinton to become the new Secretary Of State under President Barack Obama.
In that role, Mrs Clinton will be America’s top diplomat and have to deal with leaders from around the world. Clearly there could be conflicts of interest if one of those governments had given money to her husband’s charity.
Publishing the list doesn’t change the fact that the governments of Saudi Arabia, Norway, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Italy, and Jamaica have contributed, but it does at least mean the information is being shared rather than hidden.
