You may have heard of a little film that was released on Christmas Day in America. Its name is The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and it stars Brad Pitt as a boy born old but who gets physically younger as he ages.
It’s a fantastic story, and the movie is rumored to be a strong contender in the forthcoming Oscars. There’s one problem however. It’s all been done before with Forrest Gump in 1994.
Oh sure, Forrest wasn’t born an old man but take that out of the equation and the similarities are strong and numerous. If you don’t believe me, just watch the above video which draws the many parallels in front of your eyes.
Benjamin Button is based on a story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, who clearly didn’t copy Forrest Gump. But the screenwriter for both movies is one Eric Roth. A coincidence? Possibly, but I doubt it very much. Talk about running out of ideas…
