The Help is a new movie based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Katherine Stockett. This is the official movie trailer which gives a good overview of the story being told.

Emma Stone, who seems to be building quite a reputation as a versatile and talented actress, plays a budding journalist and writer who decides to tackle a controversial subject matter.

The Help is set in a pre-civil rights Deep South where black women are treated as second-class citizens despite raising the children in white households. Stone’s character tells their stories.

I’m not normally one for these dramas with big and complex themes running through them. But I am interested in seeing The Help as it looks particularly well-made and well-acted.
