I haven’t yet read The Hunger Games. I must be one of the few avid book readers who hasn’t, because I’ve been hearing a lot of friends talking about the book and how brilliant it is.
Now the movie based on the book has arrived, and it’s gaining great reviews. As usual it doesn’t quite live up to the promise of the book it’s based on but isn’t that always the case?
The idea behind The Hunger Games doesn’t seem all that original. Have we not already had Battle Royale, which is very similar? And also a multitude of books, movies, and video games set in dystopian futures?
