The Skin I Live In is the new movie from acclaimed director Pedro Almodovar. It stars Antonio Banderas as a cosmetic surgeon who has just one mission in life, and he doesn’t care how he achieves it.
Banderas’ character is trying to create a skin which will protect the human body from every outside influence. This is due to him losing his wife after she was involved in an accident.
To achieve this he veers outside the medical norms, enlisting human guinea pigs. The film is, at its heart, a creepy horror, but there are also underlying themes and a big plot twist.
I think it’s fair to say this won’t be a for everyone. If you like watching shit get blown up then avoid The Skin I Live In. But if you like your films to have a little class, a little intelligence, and a lot of intensity then The Skin I Live In may be for you.
