The Statue Of Liberty Tour Video | New York’s Iconic Landmark Closed For One Year

The Statue of Liberty is to be closed to the public for a year in order to undergo extensive repairs and renovation work. So make the most of it while it is still open.

Liberty island will remain open throughout, but access to the actual Statue of Liberty, that most iconic of all American landmarks, will be closed completely.

The repairs and renovation work, which comes with a bill of almost $30 million, is being undertaken to make the interior more safe and more accessible to the public.

I just feel sorry for people who have booked a holiday to New York in that year, running October 2011 to October 2012. Because what is the highlight of such a trip for many people is not even going to be an option.
