The Three Stooges were a comedy act who appeared both on stage and in movies together. Known for their slapstick humor and one-liners, the trio made over 190 comedy shorts during their career. And now there’s a new movie about them on the way.
As you can see from the video above, The Three Stooges‘ style of humor is still relevant and funny to this day. 70 years on, the knockabout, find-everything-a-chore act still looks and feels contemporary.
The new movie isn’t going to be a biopic, instead giving the trio a makeover for the 21st century. The Farrelly Brothers are set to write and direct the film with (you’re not going to believe this) Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, and Benicio Del Toro playing Larry Fine, Curly Howard, and Moe Howard respectively.
The new film is set for a 2010 release and I’d guess that while fans of the terrible trio will lap it up, haters may want to stay away. Me, well I’m not a fan but I’ll go and see it if those three actors really are cast in the roles. They’ll make it worthwhile.
