The new series of X Factor starts tonight in the UK on ITV1 at 7.40pm. So I thought we should take a look at one of the best performances by eventual winner Leona Lewis from last year.
This version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ is quite amazing, and gave me goose pimples all over my arms. It was made all the better because she was singing it in memory of a family member who had passed away.
This song wasn’t even her best performance from the series, but it was probably the most emotionally charged.
The thing is, as good as Leona Lewis was in the X Factor, where is she now? It’s only with the new series starting that people are starting to talk about her again.
At the end of the last series Simon Cowell insisted she’d be the next big thing, and would even make it big in America. Hmm, I don’t think that’s happened somehow. Apart from the first single released over Christmas, I’ve heard little from Leona.
I’ll be watching tonight, where new host Dermot O’Leary will be taking charge for the first time. I’ll then watch the Xtra Factor with Fearne Cotton afterwards… yes, I am that sad.
