The Where’s Waldo? books are an American institution, with children and adults alike spending hours poring over the pictures trying to find Waldo.
However, someone, somewhere has now developed a robot capable of finding Waldo for you. The robot is called “There’s Waldo”, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
The idea is really rather simple. The “There’s Waldo” robot scans the picture and scours the faces using facial recognition software. When it finds Waldo it points him out on the page.
Does this take all of the fun out of Where’s Waldo? Yes, of course. But it’s a good example of how robots will soon be making light work of things that us humans struggle with on a daily basis.
