For some reason we don’t cope with extreme weather conditions very well in the U.K. In particular, snow sees the country grind to a halt.
This video shows a speeded-up video of the queue for the Eurostar service at St. Pancras station in London. This is the train which ferries passengers between London and Paris.
This is one loooooooooooong queue. In fact, it seems to go on forever. Apparently it took nine minutes to walk the length of it, and yet people were still joining the end of the queue hopeful of traveling.
I think I’d have given up, gone home, and celebrated Christmas on my own rather than queue for this long. Especially as there was no guarantee of actually traveling at the end of it. Madness.
