Anyone of a certain age, such as myself, will no doubt remember Tron, the Jeff Bridges movie that tapped into the new computer generation in the early 1980s. It was one of my favorite films growing up, and now there’s a sequel on the way.
For the uninitiated, Disney’s Tron starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. The story sees a computer programmer digitized and dragged into the mainframe of a computer network. There, he has to battle rogue programs and help Tron defeat the Master Control Program.
The film is noticeable for using a lot of computer graphics, which were relatively new in 1982, and having a very distinguishable visual look. The sequel, scheduled for release in 2011, looks set to carry on that trend.
The quality of the video is very poor, having been taken by someone holding a camera at Comic-Con 2008. But it doesn’t matter because for someone like me, who adores the original, seeing any early footage of TR2N or Tron 2.0 is very exciting.
