I’m not a fan of U2. I never have been, and probably never will be. And this performance on The Late Show With David Letterman hasn’t changed my mind. In fact, it’s made me dislike Bono especially more than ever.
U2 have just released their new album, No Line On The Horizon, after five years in the wilderness. You probably already knew this because they have been absolutely everywhere promoting it over the past few weeks.
They’ve bought advertising on radio stations, television, and in magazines. There have been competition in newspapers, free streaming of their album, and everything else you can think of to promote the album and let us know they are back.
This performance of Breathe is just the first of five-in-a-row they are due to play on The Late Show With David Letterman. They’re on the show all week, which will be great for fans but mean people like myself are forced to stay away.
The song is rubbish, the performance is rubbish, and Bono prances about on stage like he’s Michael Flatley from Riverdance. As for getting the audience off their feet, if that wasn’t rehearsed beforehand, I’m a monkey’s uncle.
