The 2010 World Cup kicked off yesterday, and there has already been some big games. But the biggest so far is kicking off in a few short hours, with the U.S.A. taking on England.
As an Englishman, I’m obviously biased. But I’ll try and be fair in previewing the game. With that in mind, I’ve embedded a video which has an American bias.
There’s a bit of a history between these two nations. Outside of football (or soccer as the Yanks call it) they’re best of friends. But once the two teams take to the pitch friendship goes out of the window.
The U.S.A. famously beat England in the World Cup in 1950, completely against all the odds and the run of play. Can they repeat that success 60 years on? Possibly, but to do so they’ll have to handle Wayne Rooney. Which is a tough ask for any team.
