Yeah, they’ve said it before, but apparently now it’s really over. The war that has cost us trillions of dollars and 4,500 troop’s lives is now finished. All soldiers will be out by December 31st.
That being said, there will still be a 15,000 person U.S. Embassy stationed in Iraq (one of the largest in the world).
I find it interesting that no senior Iraqi government officials showed up for the ending ceremony. I’m thinking that it might have to do with the 100,000 Iraqi people that died as a result of this occupation.
Hopefully this isn’t another “Mission Accomplished” stunt like the one Bush pulled in 2003.
