I don’t think it’s a lack of sense so much as an abundance of stupidity with some of these villains.
I will forgive a lot in a movie if I like the characters and or story enough. More even if I like both the story and the characters.
The one cliche that is so, so annoying, though, is the ‘I could have easily killed you here but I am going to wait until it’s more dramatic later’ stuff.
