Twenty years ago, Anita Hill sparked a revolution amongst women, encourgaing them to speak up about sexual harassment experiences in the workplace that they had never spoken about before.
Though Clarence Thomas was narrowly confirmed and still denies Hill’s accusations to this day, what she did still marks an important point in history.
According to Huffington Post, “Many factors contributed to the political upheaval known as the Year of the Woman.
But CBS News exit polls also revealed that many voters supporting female candidates were still angry over the disrespect and near-ridicule that Hill had experienced in giving her Senate testimony the previous year.”
