“Planned evacuations of Hamilton and Daydream islands following Cyclone Debbie’s destructive visit were cancelled on Wednesday evening, leaving 3000 stranded for another night.
“Sunshine often follows cyclones, but a continuation of poor weather has hampered the airlift and rescue efforts of residents and tourists trapped on the holiday islands.
“Thousands are still trapped on the islands with diminishing rations of food and water, with power and mobile reception still cut off, the Courier-Mail reports.
“The diminishing and dire supplies meant there was reportedly only one bottle of water per person for the 275 guests and 142 staff trapped on Daydream Island.”
