“The same-sex marriage survey is almost over.
“The Australian Bureau of Statistics released the final update on the survey response this afternoon, hours before it stops accepting forms.
“12.6 million Australians have returned their surveys in the optional postal survey, representing 78.5 per cent of voters, or almost four out of five adults.
“That’s more than the turnout for the Brexit referendum in Britain, and more even than the turnout for the Northern Territory seat of Lingiari in the compulsory 2016 federal election.”
