Author Naomi Wolf and Producer Avram Ludwig were arrested outside the Huffington Post’s “Game Changer” event at which the NY Governor Cuomo was speaking.
The protest was held on the grounds that, despite overwhelming popular support for the “millionaires’ tax”, Gov. Cuomo says he will not renew the tax surcharge on the wealthiest New Yorkers.
Wolf was arrested supporting the rights of demonstrators and would not vacate the sidewalk as police forced protesters away.
Wolf is among the many writers who have noted their support for the movement on the OccupyWriters website.
Others include Lemony Snicket, the nom de plume of Daniel Handler, Donna Tartt (“The Secret History”), Salman Rushdie (“The Satanic Verses”), Neil Gaiman (“American Gods”), and Andre Dubus III (“House of Sand and Fog”).
